See No Color

Team RoosArt finished painting their highest artwork so far! This 32-meter-high apartment building is located in a multicultural neighborhood in Zwolle, the Netherlands! The mural depicts four children of different ethnicities. Each child is associated with a specific color. As the children play together, the colors (cultures) blend with each other. RoosArt designed and painted this artwork herself using spray cans. The project took a month. Through all kinds of weather, Roos and three girls from Team RoosArt painted the mural, resulting in an incredibly colorful outcome!

Roos: “The responses showed that Holtenbroek is a pleasant, colorful neighborhood where different cultures live together and children grow up together. For my design, I therefore chose four children from different ethnic backgrounds playing together with paint. Each child is associated with their own color, and as they play, these colors blend together.

The smiling faces and playful poses represent the openness and pure joy of children. They don’t focus on differences in skin color or background, but naturally seek connection. Their interaction shows that friendship and connection are stronger than differences.

The artwork is thus a colorful celebration of diversity, inclusion, and harmony. A reminder that we are all connected, regardless of our background, and that sometimes we can look at one another with the same open-mindedness as a child.”
